JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Director of Clinical Cytogenetics assists with the strategic maintenance/development of the Cytogenetic laboratory.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Writing and reporting: Cytogenetics / FISH /microarray cases.
  • Assists in strategic development of the laboratory services.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of polices and procedures that guide and support Laboratory Services.
  • Assists in establishing and executing departmental long and short-term goals.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of an effective department QA programs and monitors.
  • Work with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.
  • Present material to various committees.
  • Assist in developing Protocols and Technical Bulletins to help Market our services.
  • Help Clients with interpretation of Cytogenetic/FISH/microarray results.
  • Helps develop and validate Cytogenetic/FISH/microarray methods.
  • Helps prepare annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Represents Laboratory on varies committees.
  • Protect assets of company.
  • Participate in the Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Assists in maintaining the compliance guidelines for the laboratory industry.
  • Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry’s best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
  • Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with finance to measure and monitor budget for departmental projects.
  • Attend daily and weekly project oversight meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION & LICENSURE:

  • PHD with ABMG certification in Clinical Cytogenetics. 
  • Must hold a valid Tennessee Laboratory Directors License or State eligible.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Four years or more of post-graduate job-related experience is required.
  • Must have knowledge of molecular diagnostic techniques and technologies, including nucleic acid isolation, PCR, RT-PCR, QPCR, Next Generation Sequencing (Ion Torrent and Illumina).
  • Must have knowledge of various library preparation techniques including amplicon based and hybrid capture.
  • Project management experience including team management skills is preferred.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions, process information accurately, accurately report financials, manage multiple projects simultaneously and be organized.
